Rules of Paramotor STOL
Each pilot needs a helmet.
Each pilot needs a minimum of 1 L of fuel.
Each pilot needs to fly their own equipment if they own the equipment. Borrowing equipment can be done with race directors approval before the comp begins.
Each pilot flying needs same /similar engine size.
Pilots can set up in a forward or reverse inflation, but no forward progress can be made while in the forward position behind the start finish line. If you do find yourself in the forward position before the starting line, the pilot must come to a complete stop on or after the line before beginning their take off.
If the pilot begins to take off before the starting line in a forward position that run will be DQ’d and their run will not count. (Line judges still should score their numbers).

Pilots score consist of the combined distance of the pilots t/o and landing. Landing is scored when the pilot comes to a complete stop. T/O if scored when the last foot/wheel/part of the frame (butt drags) leaves the ground. (Line judges should communicate their numbers to the score keeper).

Power can be used on final and is recommended. This is not a spot landing competition.

Wind speeds from 0-15 mph is ideal.

If running multiple pilots; all pilots should have their engines preflite done and wing rosetted in hand. On take off all pilots must fly safely and to not endanger line judges or spectators. Keep the departure leg away from crowds, hazards, or other aircrafts. When the first pilot takes off the next pilot should have their wing laid out with the help of the designated wing assist in order to be most efficient. The pilot on deck should have all their gear and be ready to set up immediately afterwards.

The lead pilot should fly a predictable pattern to lead everyone to a safe down wind, base, final. If the spacing becomes unsafe be the PIC, and make appropriate decisions to create a gap. On final, if there are any issues on a hazardous approach, go around. Maybe you get a big gust, or you’ve drifted off center line, go around. See and avoid out there.

Landing is defined as being stationery and in control for 2 second.

On landing a line judge will verify the pilot has crossed the line and didn’t scratch. If the pilots foot/wheel touches before the line, the run is DQ’d and the score doesn’t count. (Line judges still should report the score with the Score Keeper, but marked as a scratch.)

Landing on the line is a possibility and will be marked as 0ft, but the pilot must show they are fully in control of the wing by staying stationary. If the pilot crashes (butt lands, turtles, puts hands on the ground) pass the start finish line, the score will be marked as a DQ, but line judges will score their furthest foot/wheel contact with the ground. The idea is to promote safe practices of flight.

Volunteers: We need someone with a phone to be the score keeper. A few line judges, and if we have any extra for wing support that would be awesome.

Spectators duty’s are to enjoy, film, but be vigilant. Stay behind the safety area.

Start finish line 12 inches

Materials needed:
4x small tent stakes
2x 100-300 foot measuring tape (1 staked down on both sides of the competition runway).
Spray paint for start finish line.
Cones for marking 5ft / 10ft
Vests for volunteers
