Growing tensions between Baghdad and northern Iraq's Kurdish region are threatening the fragile stability the country has achieved in recent months. The territorial and revenue disputes between the region and the Arab-dominated central government have come to the forefront as violence from Sunni and Shiite insurgents has dropped and U.S. forces have reduced their combat role. VOA Pentagon Correspondent Al Pessin reports that Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki recently traveled to the semi-autonomous Kurdish region to meet with regional President Massoud Barzani, and the two men pledged closer cooperation. But many experts believe that the Arab-Kurd dispute has become the greatest threat to future peace in the country.
