The Columbia Dance Records contain instructions for a particular dance on one side and a song on the other side. The songs, for some reason, have nothing at all to do with the dance presented not he first side. The label mentions a newspaper promotion as follows.

“This record is an example of Columba recording and is offered to you only through a special arrangement with the newspaper under the conditions advertised.”

I assume they were offered free based on the newspaper advertisement but I have no idea what the “arrangement” might have been.

The Dance records were put together between 1913 and 1916 and I assume this one was created in 1913. The original version of Dixie from 1904 had an announcement by Frank C. Stanley that is missing on this version. But it is the 1904 recording.
