2024 Switchback Mountain Bike Overview, ft. Brandon Hopkins | Mongoose

The Mongoose Switchback series are hardtail mountain bikes designed to give riders everything they need to take on dirt and gravel paths. In this video, Mongoose brand athlete Brandon Hopkins goes over the three Switchback models: the Sport, Comp, and Expert. The Comp and Expert come in adult sizes small through extra-large, in 27.5- or 29-inch wheel options, while the Sport comes in two youth sizes: the Sport 24 and the Sport 26.

Each Switchback features a lightweight, durable Tectonic aluminum mountain frame with modern trail geometry and internal cable routing, a front suspension fork to improve handling on rough terrain, and disc brakes for reliable stopping power.

The Switchback Sport comes with an 80-millimeter travel suspension fork on the Sport 26 or a 50-millimeter travel fork on the Sport 24. Both sizes feature a 1 x 7 drivetrain with a Shimano rear derailleur and Microshift shifter, mechanical disc brakes, and aluminum double-wall rims with knobby mountain tires, the perfect package for any intro to trail riding.

Stepping up to the adult sizes, the Switchback Comp comes with a 100-millimeter travel suspension fork, a 2 x 7 drivetrain with Shimano derailleur for precise gear shifts, and mechanical disc brakes. The durable aluminum double-wall rims come in two wheel sizes – 27.5-inch for size small and 29-inch for sizes medium through extra-large – and are wrapped with knobby mountain tires to slice through dirt, dust, and gravel anywhere you go.

The Switchback Expert adds more performance with a 100 mm travel SR Suntour XCE 28-millimeter suspension fork, a Microshift Acolyte 1 x 8 drivetrain for buttery smooth gear shifts, and hydraulic disc brakes for even more stopping performance. The aluminum rims come dressed to shred with WTB Trail Boss tires, perfect for the singletrack enthusiast.

The adult-sized Switchback models also come equipped with future-proof features like a tapered headtube, which allows you to upgrade your fork, and dropper post routing so you can add the dropper post of your choice later on. Get ready to ride with the Switchback series from Mongoose!
