London Midland 323 EMU stables in Lichfield City Sidings

At 10:40am on Sunday 14/10/12 Lichfield Trent Valley High Level Signalman received a phone call from Aston PSB, explaining that the London Midland service 2R09 10:34 Lichfield Trent Valley to Redditch was stuck on the cross city line's terminus (Lichfield T.V HL) due to point indicators not lighting up on reverse.
Meanwhile the 10:43 London Midland service 2R06 Redditch to Lichfield Trent Valley HL EMU ., crossed over the points just south of Lichfield City to pull into Platform 2. It changed its terminus form Lichfield Trent Valley HL to Lichfield City because of the stranded train down the line.

As it was another Sunday of Cross Country Diversions the normal Sunday services on the Cross City line were made very busy . 1V41 10:58 Birmingham New Street to Newcasle XC Voyager service was held up at Platform 1 awaiting for 2R09 down at Trent Valley. Meanwhile 1V50 HST CrossCountry service from Leeds to Plymouth was due at Platform 2 at Lichfield City at 10:58 So to save holding all the diverted trains up, Aston had no choice but to change the points and send 2R06 out of section and into the EMU stabling sidings.

Once the EMU had shunted into the siding and moved out of section the driver jumped out of his cab and walked over to the phone to receive further instructions from Aston.
