Interestingly, something I had not observed before, Scarlet Elf Cups (Scientific Name: Sarcoscypha coccinea) jettisoned their spores shortly after I blew on them with my breath. It was more than just my breath breaking the spores free. The Scarlet Cup appeared to release the spores with a couple second time delay after I blew on them. It was a very calm day for wind, so it was not likely I rattled the spores free in a strong, or even mild wind for them to drift off in a white cloud after I blew on them. Not often you get a knee-jerk like reaction from a plant or a fungus. Something like a Sunflower head following the sun on a sunny day, but a much quicker response to observe.
