What's old is new again! The Sonic brand returns to CKKS 104.9 FM Vancouver, this time as an alternative rock station. The Sonic brand was formerly used on this station from 2011-2015 as a CHR/Top 40 format. The station was then rebranded as Kiss Radio from 2015 to 2022. And the station was previously an alt rock station from 1999 to 2003 and was known as "104.9 XFM".

On June 28, the Kiss format and name was dropped and the station stunted for 30 hours with a loop of "Killing in the Name" by Rage Against the Machine. The stunting gained international coverage from Rolling Stone magazine and The Guardian. CKKS officially relaunched as Sonic at 6 AM om June 30, 2022. CKKS/Sonic competes against modern rock station CFOX and alt rock station CKPK "102.7 The Peak". Although there are rumours swirling that CKPK may flip formats soon.

This recording features the new morning show hosted by Angela Valiant, who previously worked at CKPK.
