Coronation Rehearsals March Back to Waterloo Station

At 4AM on Wednesday 3rd May 2023 the final part of rehearsals for the Coronation of King Charles III took place in Central London. After the main procession rehearsals had taken place the band's then marched all of the troops back to Waterloo Station where they started the rehearsals the previous evening. This video follows the majority of bands taking part from all three services from Birdcage Walk, through Parliament Square and over Westminster Bridge towards Waterloo Station.

Rehearsals were then complete by 5AM with roads reopening for the morning traffic around Central London. Look out for further videos showing rehearsals after the Coronation itself on Saturday 6th May.
Obviously these are still rehearsals and due to low light it was increasingly hard for the musicians to read their music however the band's still did a fantastic job playing in the difficult conditions!

Due to the complex logical nature of getting so may service personnel into London and keeping inline with prior coronation traditions of troops arriving by train and marching from Waterloo Station and over Westminster Bridge to Wellington Barracks, this method was chosen adding even more spectacle to the main event and adapting the usual "march back to barracks" that usually occurs at the end of events and also providing a unique look at almost every British military band playing one by one as they march past!
