Chief Judge Karen Arnold-Burger is a fourth-generation Kansan born in Kansas City, Kansas. She attended Johnson County Community College and the University of Kansas for her undergraduate degrees and earned a law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law. She worked as a municipal and federal prosecutor and then as a municipal judge before being named to the Kansas Court of Appeals. She became chief judge in 2017. Chief Judge Arnold-Burger has been awarded on numerous occasions from so many groups for her wide ranging work on the court and in the community.
Judge Sarah Warner was appointed to the Kansas Court of Appeals in May 2019. In her time on the court, she has served on panels that have decided over 800 opinions and has personally authored roughly 300 written decisions. Judge Warner began her law career as the chambers counsel to Chief Justice Robert Davis of the Kansas Supreme Court. She then practiced civil, constitutional, and appellate litigation with a Lawrence law firm, where she represented the State in several high-profile constitutional cases. She has taught as an adjunct professor at Washburn University School of Law since 2009 and has served as president of various professional groups, including the Kansas Bar Association. Judge Warner is a sixth generation Kansan. She grew up in Pittsburg. She and her husband Brandon now live in Lenexa with her their dog, Kolbe.
Judge Droege serves as Chief Judge of the 10th Judicial District of Kansas, which is the Johnson County District Court. He was appointed as CJ in January 2022, and appointed to the bench in 2007. Judge Droege is presently assigned to the probate docket, was assigned to a criminal docket for 6 years, and a civil docket for eight years. He spent sixteen years as a sole practitioner, where he handled both criminal and civil litigation matters. Judge Droege worked at the law firm of Linde Thomson Langworthy & Van Dyke, PC, from 1988 to 1991 and at the law firm of Morris & Larson, PC, from 1985 to 1988. Upon graduation from law school, Judge Droege worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office, from 1984 to 1985. He received his J.D. in 1983 from Washburn University School of Law, his M.S. in Business in 1979 from Wichita State University, and his B.A. in Business in 1979 also from Wichita State University. Judge Droege is married to Lynn, has a son, daughter-in-law, and two grandsons.
Judge Cameron has served as a judge in the 10th Judicial District of Kansas (Johnson County) since 2002. She received a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Kansas in 1987. Her J.D. was from KU in 1990. She started practice in Salina, Kansas as a public defender. Judge Cameron was a prosecutor in Johnson County, Kansas and for a short time in Austin, Texas from 1992 to 2001. She was a partner in the law firm of Cornwell, Cameron, Erickson and Travis in Olathe until taking the bench. She is assigned to Division 13 and handles juvenile cases. Judge Cameron has been involved in many bar and other professional endeavors outside of her role as judge.
