Dr. Terry Harman aka "The Tabernacle Man"

In this video The Tabernacle Man describes the ritual found in Leviticus 16. Dr. Terry Harman uses animal props to illustrate the sin offering that required the "goat for the Lord" and "the goat for Azazel" commonly known as the Scapegoat.

One of the misconceptions that continues to be taught is the High Priest wore the 8 golden garments into the Holy of Holies where the Ark of the Covenant was placed. The story told is the High Priest had a rope tied around his leg to pull him out if the Lord struck him dead because he
had sin in his life or the atonement offering given by the people was not appropriate. The story goes on to say if he died inside the holy of holies his bells at the bottom of his robe would no longer make noise. That would signal the priests serving inside the Holy Place that he was dead and needed to be removed.

The rope ties around his ankle would aid them in pulling him out of the Holy of Holies since they were forbidden to go inside to get him. This story is not in scripture or many other places commonly referred to as "Jewish sources say." A casual reading of Leviticus 16 reveals the High Priest entered the Holy of Holies on the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur wearing only four white linen garments -
the white linen turban, the white linen breeches, the white linen robe and the white linen sash ties around his waist.

Leviticus 16: 4 JPS 1917
"And he shall put on the holy linen tunic, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and be girded with the linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired; they are the holy garments, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and put them on."
