The Wilburn Brothers Show featuring Loretta Lynn from 1963-1971!

Описание к видео The Wilburn Brothers Show featuring Loretta Lynn from 1963-1971!

Years: 1963-1971 (their show was on until 1974 for 11 seasons), Loretta Lynn left in the middle of season 9 (1971-1972)... upon googling archives, her last episode taped with them was in July 1971 with Tex Ritter as the guest... on The Wilburn Brothers Show.

She loved them like family. They managed her for 10 years, she gained her popularity due to this show and the Grand Ole Opry. I decided to pick out non singles of hers that were my favorites that she performed on the Wilburn Brothers Show. They had very fun times on the weekly Saturday night show *they would tape several shows throughout the week and several a day for the season, when it moved from Nashville to Memphis TN. So she wasn't traveling to Memphis and back every Saturday night. Yes, it ended badly, with a lawsuit, but she said in her last book she still wouldn't have made it without their help in the early years. You need to read her books all the way to 2020's release "Me and Patsy: Kickin' Up Dust" and her second autobiography "Still Woman Enough" in 2002... she couldn't say as much in her "Coal Miner's Daughter" book from 1976, about the Wilburn Bros, because the lawsuit was still going on. I'm thankful they helped get her started though and made a deal with producer, Owen Bradley, or we wouldn't have these memories now. Read her books if you haven't. These shows hold great memories for her fans to watch and enjoy. It allows her legacy and music to live on. For this compilation video, of The Wilburn Brothers Show, I chose my favorite songs, which weren't released as singles, she wrote, and some that were remakes of songs released by other country music artists.

16 songs. I originally picked 15, but that extra one I just couldn't leave out. I loved her personality so much, in that she would just cut up and be herself. It didn't matter if she messed up the lyrics or the timing, that's what made me love her even more. Perfection is so overrated. These old clips make me smile and laugh so much. It starts with a clip of Teddy Wilburn holding her twins in the swing, they were around age 3, in 1967, and it was too cute not to include. Loretta had such a pleasant singing and speaking voice.

Songs in order *8 written by Loretta Lynn:

1. The Race is On (A track on her 1965 album "Blue Kentucky Girl". George Jones single that hit #3. Sawyer Brown had a Top 5 hit with it.)

2. Bargain Basement Dress *written by Loretta (from her 1967 album "Singin' With Feelin' ")

3. You Don't Have to Be a Baby to Cry (from her 1964 album "Before I'm Over You")

4. Let's Get Back Down to Earth *written by Loretta (from her 1970 album "Wings Upon Your Horns")

5. Kaw-Liga (Hank Williams Sr wrote and recorded it. It was #1. Charley Pride took a live version of the song to No. 3 on the country singles chart in 1969. A track on her 1968 album "Your Squaw is on the Warpath".)

6. What Makes Me Tick *Written by Loretta (from her 1971 album "Coal Miner's Daughter")

8. Harper Valley PTA (Jeannie C. Riley released it as a single. A track on Loretta's 1968 album "Your Squaw is on the Warpath".) *She socked it to them after the song... they were messing her up on purpose with those words, by holding the cue cards out of order, but she just knew to go with it 🤣 If anything, ole Loretta started wearing and singing what she wanted to after her time on this show & with the Wilburn Bros.

9. Deep As Your Pocket *written by Loretta (from her 1970 album "Loretta Lynn Writes 'Em and Sings 'Em")

10. Talking To The Wall (singing with her brother Jay Lee -Jack and sister Peggy Sue. From her 1966 album "You Ain't Woman Enough".)

11. I Walk Alone (Marty Robbins hit. A track on her 1968 album "Your Squaw is on the Warpath.)

12. Get Whatcha Got and Go *written by Loretta (from 1967 album "Don't Come Home A Drinkin' ")

13. I'll Sure Come A Long Way Down *written by Loretta (from 1967 album "Singin' With Feelin' ")

14. Boy Like You (from her 1965 album "Songs From My Heart")

15. What's The Bottle Done to My Baby *written by Loretta (from her 1970 album "Loretta Lynn Writes 'Em and Sings 'Em")

Extra Song:
16. Journey to the End of My World (*She did co-write this song with someone named Hank Beach. It was the B Side of her single she wrote "I Know How". It was only available on vinyl with this single as Side B. It wasn't put on an album. This is a rare gem.)
