In season 1997-98 Marco Negri scored 32 league goals in 29 games including 23 goals in his first 10 games. However, after a mystery injury in January 98 he only scored a further two league goals. In all competitions during that debut season he scored 36 goals in only 40 games. In his remaining three years at the club he made only three further appearances without scoring.
