Huge 2 Metre Eel Snaps my Fishing Rod! Takes 2 Men to Lift

A huge 2 metre conger eel snaps my fishing rod! A short 4- hour fishing trip turned into an epic fishing battle as GP fought to gain control of a huge 2-metre Conger Eel while fishing aboard the Watchet based charter boat "Lorna Doone" with skipper Tommo. The due were catching Thornback Rays, Small eyed Rays, Whiting, and Dogfish when GP's uptide rod took on a really good bend. Struggling to get it near to Tommo waiting with his net the rod tip suddenly snapped, tipping the odds back in the favour of the big eel getting away. But after several attempts they managed to get the Conger into the net and onto the deck. "It was an over-the-tide trip" said Graeme," the tides dry out the harbours on this coastline so you are either out for a full 8 hour day, or you can nip in and out while the tide is still high. The fishing mark Tommo chose was barely 10 minutes from the harbour and our Squid and Herring baits were soon getting chewed by several species."
