Growing up in a low-income community in Los Angeles, Paloma observed her mother's sacrifices and strength, raising her daughter as a single parent without fluency in English. Passionate about science and helping others in similar circumstances, Paloma decided to pursue a career as a doctor at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
