LAMHAI NAMDI CORE COMMITTEE SPEAKS ON LAND ISSUE

In connection with the ongoing land dispute between Lamhai Namdi village and Kiyevi village, the Lamhai Namdi Village Core Committee had a press conference on May 9 to clarify the dispute between the two villages and clear the clouds of doubt around the whole issue.
‘The land dispute is not a tribal issue, but an issue between two villages’ said the President of the Nagaland Zeliang People Organization. The President added that on September 25, 2020, Western Sumi Hoho, Zeliangrong body Nagaland, Nagaland Zeliang People Organisation, Zeme Council Nagaland, and Liangmai Council had a coordination meeting at which two resolutions were passed. First, to maintain peaceful co-existence between the two villages, and second, to format a 5 member core committee comprising both organizations. The president of the Zeliangrong body also alleged that Western Sumi Hoho's media statement regarding permission granted by British Deputy Commissioner Duncan is a lie, and that the current settlers of Kiyevi village are twisting and giving false statements and make up stories as to how the village was established
