Growing a Mango Seedling in a Tube, Days 182-248

My mango sapling stopping growing for the better part of two months, and I was thinking about whether it needed more nutrition or a transplant. I decided to abandon the 2.5 inch by 3 foot plastic tube and transplant 3 of my plants into double-stacked waste baskets with holes drilled for drainage. The trash cans worked out just like I envisioned, and the new 75% sand/25% clay soil mixture has excellent drainage. I don't think my mango sapling's problem was lack of oxygen in the soil mixture, it was mostly dehydration (due to the darkness of the moss layer making me think that the soil was wet) over the last few weeks. Nonetheless I do believing that increased airflow in the soil mixture and a much greater soil mass to work with will work wonders for the root system. Watering and fertilization will be easy going forward. I do expect my sapling to recover from the trauma of this transplant and resume development of the fifth set of leaves after 2-3 weeks.
