Ganga Quest, a national online quiz on Ganga, rivers, and environment was first conceptualized in 2019 as an educational program to sensitize children and youth towards River Ganga to strengthen the Namami Gange program of Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. From 36000+ participants in 2019 to 1 million + participants in 2020, the enthusiasm for Ganga Quest has increased multi-fold in just 1 years’ time.

At the very outset I extend my heartfelt thanks to dear sir / madam for giving me this opportunity to speak on this thought provoking an important topic .
it is a basic human tendency that everyone has greed and hunger for his and her growth but this topic stimulates how can a man resist his greed and hunger transform himself into an ideal human being.
So before discussing the ways to resist greed and hunger , first we need to know what is greed?
According to Bhagavad Gita chapter number 16 verse no 21 Lord Krishna says greed ,(lobh) is one of the triple doors to hell which bring about destructions of soul . He further says that greed is the opposite of nature. Nature rests on the principle of giving and non hoarding.
In the words of Felicita wilke a renowned freelance journalist "Greed is a selfish and excessive desire for more of something (as money) than is needed.
The University of was Wurzburg in Germany explains greed as striving excessively towards material goods. if contrast the words of Lord Krishna and and renowned freelance journalist we come to conclusion that the line between success driven and greedy is very narrow.
Now it is easy to understand that it is human greed that drives man to cheat, to plunder natural resources and to destroy animal habitat and abuse other natural and man made resources .
It is human greed that ignites conflicts and sometime causes war.
It was human greed and hunger for expansion treaties that our mother earth had to bear two world wars. Actually greed and hunger consume human wisdom and drives out humanity, the basic ornament of human .
Now the question arises how to resist greed and hunger so first of all we must be satisfied what we have.
We must be sympathetic and must have empathy for other.
we should follow the principle of simple living and high thinking .
We should be kind and considerate we should respect others opinions and respect their horizons .
. we should limit our needs we should learn the lesson from the nature that nature gives everything but never demands anything in return . finally we must be satisfied with what we have and we should learn to make difference between ambition and greed .
