I have over 2,000 square feet of native garden habitat to help wildlife, which largely includes pollinators. One of those pollinators my garden provides for is the endangered Rusty-patched Bumble bee! I first discovered this specie in my garden last autumn, and am thrilled that it's made a return this year!

I highly recommend everyone dedicate a small (or large) piece of their yard for wildlife habitat. Native gardens are beneficial and colorful. I see more butterflies and hummingbirds in my yard than ever before. It's a fun project and requires almost no maintenance after the first couple of years. No watering is necessary, especially once the seedlings have established themselves, and as they fill in, weeds will appear less and less. If you have a place for a rain garden, you can provide habitat and filter rain water at the same time!
