Revlimid capsules contain the active ingredient lenalidomide, which is a type of medicine called an immunomodulating agent. It affects the way the immune system works.

Lenalidomide is used to treat multiple myeloma, which is a cancer of a type of white blood cell in the bone marrow. In multiple myeloma, white blood cells called plasma cells multiply in an uncontrolled way.

It is thought that lenalidomide works by stopping the cancerous plasma cells from multiplying, as well as enhancing function of the immune system. Through this action, cancerous cells are weakened and immune cells attack the cancerous cells.
