At home dressing service, the popular company from Kurashi no Market gives an insider scoop.
From omiyamairi (taking a newborn for their first shrine visit), shichi-go-san festival (celebrating children turning 7, 5 and 3 years of age), a graduation ceremony and other formal events, it has become normal to wear homongi in a more casual setting such as a night on the town or a dinner party.

Mrs. Tonoka of Usagiya, who won a gold medal out of 70,000 companies from Kurashi no Market’s 2022 award ceremony, explains the process of dressing in a homongi.
Mrs. Tonoka’s dressing techniques are highly sought after, she always has positive comments such as ‘The dressing was done so fast, yet stayed perfect all day!’. She will give us her comments on how to dress various ages and body types so that the clothes don’t shift.

Various important aspects for a beautiful finish such as the hosei, matching of the collars and creating the ohashori (folded area under and below the obi) will be thoughtfully explained.

Starting with the hosei to the standard tie of a homongi obi (jubi-daiko, drum-like tie), everything needed to dress in a standard homongi kimono is shown in this video.
