Backpacking The Ohlone Wilderness

Описание к видео Backpacking The Ohlone Wilderness

We backpacked the Ohlone Wilderness Trail for two days. From Sunol Regional Wilderness to Lake Del Valle in Livermore. It was as grueling as it was rewarding.

The Ohlone Trail traverses 28 miles of mountains and canyons in southern Alameda County, from the Western foot of Mission Peak in Fremont, Ca ( http://www.ebparks.org/parks/mission ), to Lake Del Valle in Livermore to the east ( http://www.ebparks.org/parks/del_valle ).

We hiked a 20-mile segment starting at Sunol Regional Wilderness ) http://www.ebparks.org/parks/sunol ) and hiking east to camp overnight at Maggie's Half-Acre, just below the summit of Rose Peak (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose_Pe...) ). The disputed highest summit in Alameda County.

The second day we hiked over the summit and began the 10.4-mile trek down to Lake Del Valle. Hiking down is a misleading truth in this instance. The hike is several brutal descents sometimes a thousand feet or more in as short as a mile. But there are plenty of steep uphills as well.

Here is a fantastic trip report by Kira https://goo.gl/t5k51A
