BAe Hatfield Open Day 1989

Описание к видео BAe Hatfield Open Day 1989

This was the last open day at BAe Hatfield and when the DH Mosquito became my favourite aircraft. In this clip you will see the Battle of Britain Flight land and taxi about, the mosquito flying along with a miscellanea of other aircraft.
They were recruting engineers that day and a few weeks later I became a small part of DeHavilland history. It was intersting to be shown where the Mossies were made and stored during the war and to be shown some of the tooling still in use after it was adapted for the BAe 146 which I became involved with.
Alas times were changing and the site was due to be closed and so only a year later redundancies were made and so my adventure was cut short. I have very fond memories of the people I worked with and the history of the site. All gone, so sad!
