Описание к видео Internet Users by Country (percentage of total population)

The Internet developed slowly over a few decades leading to the launching of the first webpage in 1991. Internet use became public sometime around 1993 and since then it has been spreading non-stop. As of 2022, there are more than 5 billion internet users around the world and most of the population can now go online anytime and anywhere thanks to the smartphones that are available for almost anybody. That said, some parts of the world continue to lacking in access to the internet, and needless to say the ratio of internet users is a good indicator of a country's level of development. Internet was invented in the United States, which still leads in key technologies related to World Wide Web but user-wise, the USA lost its top place decades ago and never regained it. Interestingly, some of the top internet user percentages are in the cold, Northern countries such as Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Iceland. This is not surprising because these nations are very rich and highly educated and prone to embracing new technologies. Another reason is probably the climate. Because these countries are very cold it is preferable to use remote means to do your business than go to places in person.
