Hi, and welcome to Deaf Talks News!
Today, we have some really positive news from Punjab, India.
Let me tell you what happened?
The Punjab Government has made a new rule to help Deaf children and children with learning difficulties.
They will now get sign language interpreters and special teachers in places where children need support
1. Courts for Children
If a deaf child gets into problem or needs help from the law:
A sign language interpreter will help the child understand the judge, police, and lawyers.
This makes sure the child is treated safely.
2. Child Welfare Committees offices help to find lost children in India.
For example, if children run away from his home from abuse or bad homes these officers will rescue those children.
Now, if deaf children are lost somewhere the CWC office connects with sign language with someone who understands.
3. In Case of Sexual Abuse
If a deaf child is abused a sign language interpreter will help them tell their story in court.
Police and judges will understand them clearly. The child will feel safe and supported.
4. Children’s Homes, where children who do not have parents live, and Government Schools Now, they will get special teachers for deaf and learning-difficulty children.
5. Police Stations (Coming Soon!)
Police officers will be trained in basic sign language.
So they can talk to deaf people when they come for help.
Avoid confusion and support them quickly.
These services will be in every district of Punjab in both villages and cities.
Why is this good news?
Before this Deaf children had no interpreter in court or any important places.
They couldn’t explain their problems properly
Now, Punjab has made it a rule to add sign language as an important service. They will help to give safety and equal treatment
