There is an important update for railway passengers traveling between Rajgir and Varanasi. The Rajgir–Varanasi–Rajgir Buddh Purnima Express is set to undergo a major operational change. As per information shared by Saraswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway, the terminal of this train has been officially changed.

Train numbers 14223/14224, currently operating as the Rajgir–Varanasi–Rajgir Buddh Purnima Express, will no longer originate from Varanasi Junction. From 8 March 2026, the train will instead start and terminate at Banaras Railway Station, and it will also operate with new train numbers.

With this change, the weekly superfast Buddh Purnima Express has been brought under the Banaras Railway Division. The complete maintenance and operational responsibility of the train will now be handled at Banaras Railway Station itself.

According to the notification issued by the Railway Board, the Buddh Purnima Express will depart from Banaras Railway Station at 8:15 PM. During its journey, the train will pass through Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Junction before proceeding further on its route.

Passengers are advised to take note of this terminal change and check the updated train number, boarding station, and schedule before planning their journey, especially those traveling to or from Varanasi after March 2026.
