In this recording, you shall hear bells sounding Do4, La bem3, Mi bem3, Do 3, and La bem2.

The twin belfries of Luqa contain a set of 5 bells all cast by Prospero Barigozzi of Milano in 1928.

The largest bell weighs 3.5 tons and is one of three bells sounding the same note and also cast by Barigozzi. The other bells are found at Mellieha and the Basilica of St. George Victoria Gozo - both cast earlier in 1925. The set of bells is considered to be cast on a light profile meaning that the bells are relatively light in weight in comparison to their musical note. None of the bells is mechanically tuned from the inside and all bells are hung fixed to their headstocks therefore ringing is achieved by manually swinging the clapper to strike the sound blows of the bells.

The masses of bells are:

193kg
398kg
926kg
1656kg
3750kg
