Dubai 2015 Burj Khalifa Elevators Going Down (124F to Ground)

Welcome to a snippet of video footage I shot while having a chance to take a vacation that was over a year in planning. My trip to Dubai and Abu Dhabi was happenstance based on a lucky airfare situation, however I had been amazed by the architecture of the region for years. In September 2015, I finally was able to make it happen. We visited Abu Dhabi from September 17th to September 28th, 2015.

Footage was filmed over thirteen days utilizing my Canon 7D Mark II, 5D Mark II, and assorted lenses, but today I am just showcasing the Burj Khalifa general observatory Elevators which travel from the Ground floor and take you to the 124th floor, going down. The flicker was most likely due to outside signal interferences, mechanical rooms, and hertz differences from the US to UAE (60hz to 50hz). This presentation style was modified around 2017-2018 to feature projections on the Ground floor elevator doors showing floor, speed, and height, but in 2015 this didn’t exist yet. These elevators were fast, silent, and a joy to ride! The light and sound presentation going down was really pretty.

At the time, these Mitsubishi elevators were the world's fastest double-deck elevators, traveling at 10m/sec, 36km/hr or 2,000fpm or 22.3mph. They are still tied with Seoul's Lotte World Tower for fastest double decks in the world.

Tune in to the Abu Dhabi / Dubai Playlist (   • Dubai 2015 Vacation Days 0-1 - Abu Dh...  ) to see more of my vacation photos and videos as I build each day’s footage over time!
