Gaziantep is known to be the food capital of Turkey, and is the birthplace of many popular Turkish dishes.
It's an incredible city enjoy some foodie adventures, and over the period of a four days I enjoyed these 5 delicious meals.
[1] Stuffed meatballs at Yesemek.
I visited this old famous restaurant to eat eggplant kebab, but they said they didn't have any. They did have plenty of other tasty Turkish treats though.
I enjoyed onion kebab and İçli Köfte (stuffed meatballs) along with various Turkish meze items.

[2] Künefe at Cumba.
Cumba Künefe is a dessert restaurant and one of the best places to eat Künefe in Gaziantep.
What I didn't realise before going there was that their smallest Künefe is a portion size for at least two people.
Well, I'd hiked a long way across the city to get there, so I'd worked up enough of an appetite to give it a try.

[3] Turkish Ütü Tost at a local joint
In the previous vlog, while exploring with Turkish friends, we found a small restaurant selling Ütü Tost, a popular street food in Türkiye.
I watched the usta making a toasted cheese sandwich and it looked so appealing that I made a mental note to go back there and try one.
Finding the place was difficult, as it wasn't on Google Maps, but by playing back my previous video and searching for the surrounding businesses, I was able to locate it.
And it was worth hunting for. The sandwich was stuffed with melted Kaşar cheese and chopped Sucuk sausage and tasted absolutely glorious.
This is the type of sandwich that travellers should be eating and raving about. Not those cheap, nasty cheese toasties from 7-Eleven in Thailand that all the trashpacker and digital gonad content creators seem to find fascinating.

[4] Eggplant Kebab at Kelebek
Finally I was able to try the Patlıcanlı kebab. I visited Kelebek, which I was told was a very popular restaurant and that appeared to be true, as when I got there every table was full.
I found the eggplant kebab to be too heavy towards the eggplant on the eggplant to meat ratio, but I ordered it with some juicy lamb chops, so that was perfect.

[5] Fine Dining at Mutfak Sanatları Merkezi
I visited this fancy restaurant that's located beside the botanical gardens in Gaziantep. While the restaurant was certainly fancy, what surprised me was the menu prices were just the same as any regular restaurant in Gaziantep.
I tried Ekşili Ufak Köfte, which literally translates to "Sour Small Meatballs" and is a local Gaziantep dish. It tiny, chewy meatballs in a soup and kind of reminded me of the type of meatball they have in Indonesia where they add tapioca starch with the meat.
Their menu was full of interesting items and I also got some tasty olive pastries and a Damascus dessert, which, like every dessert in this region was super dense as sweet. Even a small portion felt like a lot.
