नेरळ
नेरळ जंक्शन हे रायगड जिल्ह्याच्या नेरळ गावामधील एक रेल्वे स्थानक आहे. हे स्थानक मुंबई उपनगरी रेल्वेच्या मध्य मार्गावर स्थित असून माथेरान ह्या पर्यटनस्थळाकडे जाणाऱ्या नेरळ−माथेरान रेल्वे ह्या नॅरो गेज रेल्वेमार्गाची सुरूवात देखील येथेच होते.
माथेरान
माथेरान हे रायगड जिल्ह्‍यातील एक थंड हवेचे ठिकाण आहे. साधारण ८०३ मी. किंवा २६०० फूट उंचीच्या पठारावर माथेरान वसले आहे. येथील पठाराची बरीचशी टोके तसेच पूर्व-पश्विम व दक्षिणेकडील कडे कोसळले आहेत. ह्या कडांनाच पॉईंटस् म्हटले जाते. ज्या इंग्रजांनी माथेरान वसवले त्यांनीच या पॉईंटस् ना नावे दिली. माथेरानच्या जंगलात १५० प्रकारचे वृक्ष आढळतात. विविध जातीच्या, तसेच औषधी वनस्पतीही इथे आहेत. माथेरान ही सह्याद्रीच्या मुख्य रांगेपासून जरा सुटावलेली, वेगळी डोंगर रांग आहे. कल्याणच्या हाजीमलंगपासून ही डोंगर रांग सुरू होते. हाजीमलंगला लागून बदलापूरच्या ‘टवली’ गुहांचे किंवा बदलापूरचे डोंगर आहेत.
जुम्मापट्टी
डाव्या बाजूस माथेरानकडे जात असताना तुम्हाला जुम्मापट्टी असे एक छोटेसे स्टेशन मिळेल. काही मिनिटांच्या चालानंतर तुम्हाला एक सुंदर धबधबा सापडेल तो म्हणजे जुम्मापट्टी धबधबा.
Jummapatti a small station in the Neral-Matheran toy train route. From Neral to Jummapatti distance is 3.5 to 4 k.m. In rainy session near this station looks a very beautiful waterfall. After few minuts of walk you will find one of the beutiful waterfall that is Jummapatti waterfall.
