Prototype BETAFPV Sub100g DJI O3 Quad Build and Test Flight (4K)

Just shortly after my trip in Japan, BETAFPV came up with a sub 100g quad for the DJI O3 Air Unit (stock). The test unit arrived earlier this week and I am amazed that they jammed so much goodies into such a light quad. Carbon fiber motors support, soft mounted flight controller, softmount upper cage for both the O3 Air Unit and Camera, ultralight dipole antennae, integrated lipo holder and more.

The 3 layer design is unique and I have never seen in this class of machine before. The initial flight showed it seems to isolate vibration pretty well. No vibration noticed even on goggles, gyroflow's result is almost flawless, definitely a good platform for cinematic stuff

Controls are very neutral and linear and the center of gravity is good. It is a lot more discreet than my DIY O3 75, perhaps because the pitch of prop noise is lower. The 45mm propellers might have helped too by lowering the rpm compared to the 40mm ones.

It remains to be seen how it handles wind and crash survivability. I am also interested to see if the floating cage could minimize jello without an ND filter.

The 1102 18,000kv motors gets warm when hovering indoor, and they stayed cool outdoor at 6c air temperature.

Using the battery tray as landing gear in a pusher config, take off / landing may be challenging in some terrains especially uneven surfaces. I suppose drop landing into something soft is needed and hand held takeoff if it doesn't sit flat on the ground.

Enjoy the build, the flight and let me know what you think!
