Chinese Freighter Ship stuck at Russian Port.
A storm beached the Chinese freighter ship Xing Yuan at the eastern Russian port of Kholmsk on December 6.The evacuation of the crew began on December 7, Russia’s Tass News Agency said.There was no visible damage to the hull of the ship, Tass said, but divers were making inspections. The freighter wasn’t carrying any cargo, and was not leaking fuel.Drone footage shows the waves crashing against the ship.
All 12 Chinese crew members of a container ship were rescued after the ship ran aground in Kholmsk on the Russian island of Sakhalin on December 6. The Xing Yuan ship was reported to have hit an embankment near the Russian port at around 4 pm on Monday, but did not request to be rescued and had no fuel leak, according to Russian emergency services. Chinese freighter was pushed aground in the downtown of Kholmsk port, Sakhalin, Russia Far East, in the afternoon Dec 6, shortly after she heaved anchor and tried to sail further out to sea to wait out almost incessant storms, raging in the region in fall-winter season. She arrived at Kholmsk anchorage on Dec 4 from Japan. 12 crew, all of Chinese nationality, remain on board, so far. No leak spotted or reported.
