Riot police remained on alert on Wednesday (29/3) a day after
clearing demonstrators from the centre of Dkaka and crushing
opposition plans to lay siege to the Bangladeshi capital. In
clashes between demonstrators and police on Tuesday at least 30
people were injured. Witnesses said the centre of the capital
city was shaken by explosions as opposition protesters threw
homemade bombs. Police fired tear gas and charged with batons.
