Virtual site tour for Park East, Erith

Construction Manager, Lawrence Baxter talks through progress on site at Park East in Erith, where we are working with the London Borough of Bexley and with Orbit to regenerate the area with 320 new homes, 80% of which will be for affordable rent and shared ownership. It comes after this partnership completed six years of work on the neighbouring Larner Road estate, transforming it into an award-winning, mixed tenure community – Erith Park.

As the pandemic continues, our site and project teams continue to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of everyone coming into contact with our operations. As part of this work, visitors to site have been restricted to essential categories only.

This includes young people interested in pursuing a career in construction or currently studying for construction qualifications, who in normal circumstances would have been able to attend site visits or undertake work experience placements.

To ensure they won’t miss out entirely on the site experience during the pandemic, our site teams from our Residential business are now filming their own virtual site tours, made specifically for local students.

The first tours have been released this week to local schools and colleges near our sites in Barking and Havering in east London and Erith in Kent. Zoom Q&A sessions with site managers have been arranged to allow students to ask follow-up questions after viewing the tours online, with further sessions planned for unemployed adults or career changers looking to enter the construction industry.
