Day three in Colorado and we were itching for a nice, moderately challenging hike. Reservations for the Rocky Mountains were full that day, so we did some searching online. I found a beautiful lake called Lake Isabelle just outside of Boulder, Colorado. The hike was about 4.4 miles round trip, but ours was about four miles on top of that due to parking further down the mountain. The parking lots get full very quickly at the trailhead, so it is important to get there super early (we got there at 9:30a).

This hike offers a lot: wild flowers, rivers, streams, breathtaking views, lots of wildlife, and beautiful greenery. Once you get to the top, you are met by a gorgeous view of Lake Isabelle with mountains covered in snow (even though it is still summer) and complete silence. This might be one of the best hikes you can do just outside of Denver.
