Valley of shadow of death in Israel from the Psalm 23:4 a Psalm by King David.
The Wadi Qelt (Qelt Valley) is a deep gorge in the Judaean desert/wilderness that runs from Jerusalem to Jericho.
Streams of water runs through the valley in the wilderness and is a heartland of Shepherds.
At Wadi Qelt, there is a Monastery called Saint George or in Arabic Mar Jaris
the site is associated with the life of Prophet Elijah when God commanded him to go and stay at Kerith Ravine after he prophesied about the famine in Samaria during the reign of King Ahab (1Kings 17)
Religious tradition attaches this place with the parents of Virgin Mary, Joachim and Anne.
Anne was barren for many years and here the angel announced Virgin Mary conception.
