A new virtual reality program in Camarillo is helping seniors combat social isolation. According to a report by the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine, about one-quarter of adults 65 years and older are considered to be socially isolated. The free class is called "Pedaling the Planet," and is offered by the Camarillo Health Care District. It began in the fall and is partially paid for by a nearly $12,000 grant from the city to help local seniors ages 62 and up get exercise while also going on virtual adventures.
