12A and 80G Certificates in India
Both 12A and 80G certificates are issued by the Income Tax Department of India to non-profit organizations (NGOs), trusts, and charitable institutions to help them avail tax benefits and encourage donations.

1. 12A Certificate (Tax Exemption for NGOs)
Purpose: Grants tax exemption to NGOs, trusts, and Section 8 companies on their income.
Who can apply: Charitable and religious institutions.
Benefit: The income of the organization is exempted from income tax.
Validity: Lifetime (unless canceled by the IT department).
Process: Apply through Form 10A to the Income Tax Department.
2. 80G Certificate (Tax Benefit for Donors)
Purpose: Allows donors to claim tax deductions on donations made to registered NGOs.
Who can apply: NGOs, charitable organizations, and trusts engaged in social work.
Benefit: Donors can claim a deduction of 50% or 100% on donations under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
Validity: Usually 5 years (needs renewal).
Process: Apply through Form 10A (for new registration) and Form 10AB (for renewal).
