Yaqibrush: the Mellon (DOC) head - La Sagrada Familia - Rodrigo de Jerez


This week's shave is with the Mellon head from the Yaqibrush company; it is based on a vintage razor from the mid 1940's, the 'Grand King' self lubricating safety razor, which was patented by Mr. Joeseph M Mellon in 1944

The safety razor is constructed and arranged that when dipped in water or placed in a running stream of water, it will retain a quantity of the water and release that when the cutting edge of the blade is placed against the face. It was thought it may moisten the lather, immediately preceding the cutting blade.

The shaving brush is the Sagrada Familia with a 24mm tuxedo knot. In my opinion this is completely the wrong colour but it is a very nice brush.

The shaving soap is from Joserra, a soap maker in Spain. Viva Espania! 🎉 It really is a lovely soap even though it is an old one and therefore not made anymore. The link to the Facebook page is below. Rodrigo de Jerez travelled with Columbus on the Santa Maria and is credited as being the first European to smoke tobacco!

Ingredients:
Stearic acid, beef tallow, lamb tallow, glycerine, fragrance, potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, linum usitassimum oil, cannabis seed oil, cocos nucifera oil, butyrospermum parkii butter, ricinus communis oii, theobroma cacao powder.
