What if the earliest teachings of Jesus don’t come from the Gospels you were taught in church?

In this video, I examine two of the most important sources in historical Jesus scholarship:

1️⃣ The Q Source — the hypothetical sayings collection used by Matthew and Luke
2️⃣ The Gospel of Thomas — a non-narrative sayings gospel with no crucifixion story, no resurrection theology, and no atonement doctrine

Critical scholars widely agree that both Q and Thomas preserve early, independent Jesus traditions—focused on ethics, repentance, monotheism, humility, obedience to God, and the coming Kingdom.

I show how these sayings:

Are deeply rooted in the Hebrew Bible

Reflect Jewish prophetic morality, not Pauline theology

Lack Trinity, Original Sin, or substitutionary atonement

Align naturally with Islamic theology and Qur’anic teachings

Portray Jesus as a servant-prophet, not a dying god

This raises a serious question:
Did Christianity preserve Jesus’ message—or replace it?

If Jesus’ earliest teachings emphasize submission to God, moral accountability, prayer, fasting, humility, and divine unity, why does modern Christianity look nothing like that?
