Did you know that your lawn mowing habits influence the number of broadleaf weeds & crabgrass that you see on the lawn? In this episode of Turf Tips, Dr. Brad visits the O.J. Noer Turfgrass Research Facility with the University of Wisconsin Madison to prove that mowing height can have a huge impact on backyard weed cover. One of their tests saw multiple plots, which were all mowed at different lengths - no weed control of any kind was applied to any of these test areas. Mowing at 3 or 3.5 inches saw fewer broadleaf weeds & less crabgrass, but 2.5 and 1.5 inch mowing heights resulted in a weedy mess.
