To import the placemarks, just go to File, Open in Google Earth Pro.
(Google Earth Pro is free). It will show up in your "Temporary Places" in the menu. If you want to save it so it shows up next time, drag the folder from your Temporary Places to My Places, and then do File, Save My Places. Next time you open the app, my placemarks will display as a subfolder in your My Places folder, so you can keep mine and yours separate.
