On the 4th January 2024, whilst London was being battered by a storm. The Bar & Co, bar and nightclub on the converted sailing barge named Wilfred, started taking on water and sank. The vessel was approximately 110 years old at the time.

On Saturday the 13th January 2024 an operation commenced to raise the vessel.

On Monday the 15th January 2024, pumping out & shoring up of the vessel continued during the morning. In the early afternoon, the pumps were disconnected and three motorised salvage barges were attached by ropes to the sunken vessel. An attempt was made to move the vessel away from the side of the pontoon it had settled against. Despite the immense power of the barges, the operation seemed to have come to nothing and the vessel again settled, completely awash and still against the pontoon.

On Tuesday the 16th January 2024, with the assistance of airbags the vessel was finally pulled clear of the pontoon and raised.

On Wednesday the 17th January 2024 the pumping out operation continued and completed. The vessel was again docked against the pontoon and the removal of the recovery equipment commenced.
