This is a tune often learned early on when building a ceol mor repertoire. I employ a "passage and phrase" analysis to the tune to help me deliver the melody with appropriate expression. It runs along the lines of: two bar phrases, where 1st passage is contained in bar 1; bar 2, however, is comprised of two short musical passages. One way to think of it is in terms of musical words (passages) that make up musical sentences (two bar phrases). This analysis of the melody can be applied across the entire body of ceol mor, and helps explain its unique musical character.
