Karni Mata is a well-worshipped goddess here, and her temples can be found all over Rajasthan and India. She is said to be the incarnation of Maa, or Goddess Parvati, and is also called the Goddess of Rats.

Some people believe her to be the form of Goddess Durga. It was built by Maharana Karan Singh in 1620 AD and is built on a high hill near Pichola and Doodh Talai lakes in the Macchla Magra area. It is in such a prime location that from here you can enjoy the natural beauty along with the beauty of the entire city. While the white-washed city is visible in the east and north, the Pichola Lake, brimming with water, is visible amidst the lush green mountains in the west.

You can reach here either by walking or by the famous and second ropeway statrted in Rajasthan, Manshapurna Karni Mata Ropeway. You can have a scenic view from here of the sunrise in the morning and the sunset in the evening over the world-famous Pichola Lake.
