The Epic C4 Corvette ZR-1 LT5 Engine of the 90's

With the release of information regarding the 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 and its LT6 DOHC flat plane crank engine, I figured it would be a good time to take a closer look at the original Corvette DOHC LT5 engine that was installed in the C4 corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1995.

Watch as a I give a brief description of the development of this engine by Lotus in conjunction with GM, with final casting and assembly by Mercruiser in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

I also go into further detail of the major components of this engine, and remove the upper plenum, fuels rails, and injector housing to illustrate how unique and forward thinking this design was for an engine developed in the mid 80's and how the new LT6 compares to the original LT5 DOHC engine Chevrolet.
