Accounting firm Mazars Group halting proof-of-reserves audits for crypto companies.

Mazars had suspended work for cryptocurrency firms because of indications that markets haven’t been reassured by the “proof-of-reserves” reports it had published so far, citing “concerns regarding the way the public understands these reports.”

Mazars has indicated that they will temporarily pause their work with all of their global crypto clients, including Crypto.com, KuCoin, and Binance.

Big Short Investor Michael Burry Says Audits of Crypto Exchanges Like Binance and FTX Are 'Meaningless'. Burry tweeted:

"In 2005 when I started using a new kind of credit default swap, our auditors were learning on the job. That’s not a good thing. Same goes for FTX, Binance, etc. The audit is essentially meaningless".

Bitvavo, a Dutch cryptocurrency exchange, said on Friday it has 280 million euros locked at Digital Currency Group (DCG).

It said it had given the money to DCG to offer Bitvavo customers a product where they could earn interest on their cryptocurrency token deposits.

"DCG is currently experiencing liquidity problems ... As a result, DCG has suspended repayments until this liquidity issue has been resolved," the Dutch firm said on its blog.

DCG operates several subsidiaries, including major cryptocurrency lender Genesis Global Capital, which froze withdrawals in November following the collapse of FTX.

Bitvavo said it expects to be reimbursed over time and that it has enough funds to "prefund any locked assets at DCG". It said its customers are not exposed and can withdraw all their funds at any time.

Basel Committee Endorses Global Crypto Banking Rules to Be Implemented by 2025.

The rules suggested that a bank's exposure to certain crypto assets must not exceed 2% and should generally be lower than 1%.

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) is the primary global standard setter for the prudential regulation of banks and provides a forum for regular cooperation on banking supervisory matters. Its 45 members comprise central banks and bank supervisors from 28 jurisdictions.

Donald Trump Announces $99 Digital Trading Card NFTs. The edition of 45,000 NFTs features the former president in various fantasy costumes and poses. It is be minted on Polygon.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s non-fungible token (NFT) digital trading card collection sold out early Friday, the day after its initial release.

According to data from OpenSea, at time of writing, the collection’s trading volume is 900 ETH, or about $1.08 million. Its floor price is about 0.19 ETH, or about $230 – more than double the original price of $99.
