Hi my name is Liamanaia

I make videos to express my passion and enjoyment for doing bodyweight workouts for men over 50 & fit.

I workout at home because I don't require equipment, my body is my weight and I can train at anytime for as long as I want for 5, 10 or 60 mins or however long it takes to complete the WOD or workout of the day.

I took up bodyweight training seriously in 2017 to get fit and lose weight.

Bodyweight exercises has helped my joints move freely through a full range of motion, improved my posture and minimized exercise related injuries such as muscle sprain or strain that you can get from lifting weights.

As a result, not only do I feel stronger and fitter, I'm more mobile such as, I can sit in a squat position comfortably for at least 5 minutes. And, I can lunge comfortably as well. I used to get severe pain in my knees, bodyweight training helped my knee joints move freely through a full range of motion such as squatting and lunging. Although, I still feel a little bit of knee discomfort, I don't get severe knee pain anymore.

Here are some tips to get started in bodyweight training:

Begin with the big three bodyweight exercises; squat, push-up and sit-ups. These are common movements in bodyweight WODs
Complete 3 rounds or sets of 45 secs on, followed by up to 30 secs rest between rounds
Make time to workout for at least a month, every day or three to four times a week
Scale the volume or movements if you can't do a full squat, push-up or sit-up until you can do the movements correctly and minimal discomfort.
Practice self discipline, dedication and commitment by making time to complete the workout.

Today's ultimate ultra endurance workout is Bert (Hero WOD)

For time:
50 burpees
400m run
100 push-ups
400m run
150 walking lunges
400m run
200 squats
400m run
150 walking lunges
400m run
100 push-ups
400m run
50 burpees

Complete the workout in the order written until you've completed the last round of burpees for a total of 806 reps including the runs.

My score was 59:57

Here are some tips for men over 50 that may help you to crush the WOD

Pace yourself. Avoid the temptation to go out hard too soon that you run out of energy at the end to complete the WOD well. I tend to start slowly and move at a steady pace in the first half of a WOD. Although, I completed the first half faster than the second half by 2 mins, My top and bottom half WOD completion split times, showed that I maintained a steady pace from start to finish.
Move fast in your best movements. It appears the squats is my preferred movement.
Aim to complete the sets unbroken or without pausing too long
Use my split times as a guide to help you set a pace to either equal or better my score
Keep moving (even when your thoughts are begging you to stop); here's the thing, one completed rep is one less rep that you have to do at the end.
