The Humours of Lissadell (Larry Redican and Jack Coen)

Описание к видео The Humours of Lissadell (Larry Redican and Jack Coen)

I heard the sad news that Jack Coen passed away today. I had this old reel-to-reel tape of Jack Coen playing with my grandfather, Larry Redican. When I converted this tape to a digital file about a year ago, my dad (also Larry Redican) told me stories about how Jack used to come by their apartment in Queens, NY every Wednesday evening after work and play with my grandfather at the kitchen table. My grandmother would make tea and my dad would go to his room and listen and hum along.

The tape loses something in conversion to digital. It is much fuller and robust on the old tape...

I found the name of the tune listening to Matt Molloy (of the Cheiftans) and John Carty play the tune on Pathway to the Well.

I wasn't planning on making this video for a number of reason but I hope you enjoy...
