Rebreather Diving

Описание к видео Rebreather Diving

CBS 8 San Diego interviews John Mankat about extreme diving and what it takes to dive as deep as hundreds of feet underwater as he has done. Mankat, senior vice president of FTN Financial, explains rebreather diving, a very dangerous sport with fatalities occurring when people try to chase depths beyond their capabilities, or try it without proper instruction or conditioning.

The average recreational diver goes 60 feet deep. Technical / rebreather divers average 160 feet. Extreme rebreather divers go much deeper.

John Mankat has gone as deep as 500 feet and was on the safety dive team for Kimberly Inge, who at the time set the deep diving record for a female diver. He went 430 feet on her 660 feet of depth.

Many thanks to San Diego Divers for providing free scuba lessons to two viewers during this segment.
