Divine Start to 2025: Devotees Flock To Puri Jagannath Temple

Puri is experiencing an immense influx of devotees eager to welcome the New Year. A sea of people has gathered near the Jagannath Temple (Shreemandir) to seek blessings from Lord Jagannath. Devotees started queuing up since midnight, and the temple gates were opened in the early hours to accommodate the crowd. Many entered the temple at midnight to have a "darshan" (holy viewing) of Lord Jagannath, starting their year with his blessings. The administration has made special arrangements to ensure the safety of the devotees. For orderly "darshan," barricades have been set up till the Market Chhak. Devotees are allowed to enter the temple only through the Lion's Gate (Singhadwara), while the other three gates are designated for exits. To manage the crowd, 60 platoons of police force have been deployed. The district administration and police department are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that no untoward incidents occur in Shreekhetra (Puri).
